Saint-Livres lies between two rivers: the village is bordered by the Aubonne to the west and the Boiron to the east. In the lower part of Saint-Livres, there is a sunny vineyard slope covering 28.5 hectares. To the west of the village lies the wooded Aubonne Valley within the perimeter of the Arboretum du Vallon de l'Aubonne.

Villagescape and History
The name Saint-Livres goes back to Saint Libère, who was pope from 352 to 366; the first church was dedicated to him. The earliest written records date from 1259. The present-day church was consecrated on 8 October 1457 at the village's current location. Between 1453 and 1457, Saint-Livres was partially destroyed by a landslide.
The representative buildings of Saint-Livres are grouped around a central garden. The fountains in the village streets include the covered Fontaine des Lessiveuses. Saint-Livres is also home to a former dairy and cheese-making facility dating from 1910. An official plan exists for Saint-Livres-Village to preserve the architectural character of the village.
Landscape and Wine
Some winegrowers from Saint-Livres offer bottles bearing Saint-Livres labels. Thus, alongside the villagescape, the vineyard slope in the lower part of the village is also a focal point as a distinct landscape feature.
Paths Through the Surrounding Area
The Au Fil de l'Aubonne trail connects Bière and Aubonne along the river; information panels provide details about nature and local history. It can be reached from Bière railway station by MBC train or from Aubonne bus station. The trail is 8.2 kilometres long, takes around two hours, and is considered easy.
The Chemin du Vallon de l'Aubonne connects fields and forests along the Aubonne Valley with vineyards above Lake Geneva and the arboretum. It is signposted in the direction of the arboretum, Saint-Livres, and Yens railway station.
