Skiing and Winter Activities

The Frience leisure area is a south-facing panoramic plateau with activities in every season. It has two specially prepared toboggan runs. There is also a cross-country skiing loop of approximately one kilometre around the lake and plateau. At Lac de Frience, there are three purpose-built pools for visitors of different ages.

At Gryon Parc, a children's steam train runs on a 130-metre-long circuit; the park also includes a small railway museum and a shaded maxi mini-golf course.

Culture and History

Fond de Ville is the village centre of Gryon, with its church, a lime tree, a fountain and the former cemetery enclosure. Gryon's present-day church probably dates from the first third of the 16th century. The village of Gryon is characterised by finely carved chalets.

In Taveyanne, the existing wooden chalets and shingle roofs were rebuilt between 1720 and 1830. The hamlet is classified as a historic monument and lies within a nature reserve. Taveyanne still has no electricity. During the warmer season, Taveyanne is a stop on hiking and cycling excursions. The Mi-été in Taveyanne is a pastoral festival with a long tradition.

Local Specialities

In summer, you can watch cheese being made at the Alpage des Chaux; Tommes, cheese and other homemade Alpine specialities are sold there. Above Gryon, the Alpage des Chaux offers a panorama.

Getting There and Information

Gryon can be reached from Bex by BVB train. From Aigle railway station, the connection continues by bus to Villars and then by BVB train to Gryon.
