Culture
The Bex Arts Triennial was founded in 1981 as an exhibition of contemporary art and takes place in Szilassy landscape park. At the Triennial, sculptures, installations and performances enter into a direct dialogue with the landscape.
The tour featuring Bex’s cultural heritage panels conveys the history of thermal spa culture in Bex-les-Bains. The Sentier du Sel educational trail connects Salin-sur-Ollon with the Bévieux saltworks near Bex.
Nature
Almost 3,000 mountain plants grow in La Thomasia, arranged according to their geographical origin. La Thomasia is located at the entrance to the Vallon de Nant nature reserve.
La Thomasia is listed at the address CH-1880 Les Plans-sur-Bex. From Bex, La Thomasia can be reached via Frenières-Sur-Bex and Les Plans. From the end of May to the end of September, bus route 152 runs from Bex to Pont de Nant; outside this period, the bus runs to Les Plans, from where another 2 km must be covered on foot.
A path in the Vallon de Nant leads to Alp Nant and passes through forests, meadows, alluvial fans and scree slopes. The Les Caillettes glacial mill bears witness to the fact that the Rhône Glacier advanced as far as Bex around 17,000 years ago.
Wine
The vineyards of Bex cover 110 hectares; more than half of them are planted with red grape varieties.
The winegrowers of Bex open their doors for tastings of their wines. The Sentier des vignes guides walkers to Bex’s terraced vineyard plots and allows them to discover their produce along the way.
Geographical location
Bus route 152 runs from Bex railway station to the Bex salt mines and serves them on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and the Monday of the Swiss Day of Thanksgiving, Repentance and Prayer. The BVB takes passengers from Bex to Villars in around 45 minutes.
