Winter
Cross-country ski trails run between Evolène and Les Haudères. There are also marked snowshoe trails throughout the municipality. Marked hiking trails and marked trail-running routes are likewise spread throughout the Evolène area.
The Via Ferrata d'Evolène comprises three routes. From the village side of Les Haudères, it can be reached via a 15-minute walk from the car park for paragliders.
Hiking and Mountain Landscapes
The Evolène–Arolla stage of the Chemin des cols alpins is around 15 kilometres long, takes approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes, and climbs around 1,500 metres in elevation. Along the way, it passes traditional summer alpine settlements and a suspension bridge near La Monta.
The Evolène–Arolla hike leads across alpine pastures to the Alpage de l'Etoile and offers panoramic views of the Dent Blanche. The route also passes glaciers, forests, fields, flower-filled meadows and Lac Bleu.
Culture and Village Character
The Evolène Carnival includes the Peluches and Empaillés dressed in animal skins or straw costumes and wearing wooden masks. Evolène's architectural heritage reflects a rural past; stone and wood integrate the buildings into the landscape.
The Arolla–Evolène stage of the Tour du Val d’Hérens connects well-preserved historic villages in the valley. This stage also includes a 75-metre-long suspension bridge over the Borgne d’Arolla.
