History
Hemberg is documented under the name Hemmenberch from the year 878 and as Hembere from the year 1225. Records from 878 indicate early ownership by the Abbey of St. Gallen.
The area of the former municipality included Bächli (Hemberg) as well as the hamlets of Mistelegg, Bomen, Harzenmoos, Brand, Lemberg, Starkenbach, Wis and Unterhemberg.
