Culture and History

Sargans Castle is considered a former castle and fortified complex dating from the 1280s. At the same time, it is regarded as a landmark of the municipality and a symbol of the Sarganserland region. In the castle tower, the Sarganserland Museum presents exhibitions on local history.

Sights in Sargans include partially preserved remains of a Roman estate dating from 270 to 290 AD, as well as the Gonzen iron mine.
