Hintergoldingen is a village section in the Goldingertal valley and is reached after a short, steep climb beyond the village sections of Vorhalden and Vordersagen. Historically, it was one of the villages of the former municipality of Goldingen. In today’s classification, Hintergoldingen is listed as one of the villages that made up the former municipality of Goldingen; the former municipality of Goldingen is now part of the municipality of Eschenbach in the See-Gaster constituency of the canton of St. Gallen.
