Ernetschwil is a locality and former municipality on the southern side of the Ricken Pass, in the See-Gaster area of the canton of St. Gallen. Within this area, the locality lies in the municipality of Gommiswald.
The surrounding area of Ernetschwil includes Plättlispitz, Auenberg, Spitzberg and Tierberg. The former municipality is recorded as having predominantly agricultural land use with a considerable proportion of forest.

History
Ernetschwil was first documented in an entry from the year 885. A monastery document from 885 also names Ernetschwil as the first village of the present-day municipality of Gommiswald to be mentioned in writing.
Ernetschwil was formerly an independent municipality and merged with Rieden in 2013 to form the municipality of Gommiswald. Since January 1, 2013, the locality has been part of the united municipality of Gommiswald.
