Geographical setting
The settlement lies at an altitude of around 1,920 metres above sea level on an alpine plateau at Lake Melchsee. The plateau includes Lakes Melchsee and Tannensee; it is almost completely surrounded by mountain ranges.

Getting there
From Stöckalp, Melchsee-Frutt can be reached by gondola lift during the summer and winter seasons. A single-lane road with alternating traffic is available approximately from the end of May to the beginning of November.
