The Via Lucmagn leads through Platta. It is 41.7 km long and designed to take around three days; with a few detours, it is also suitable as a cycling route.

Postbus services run year-round from Disentis/Mustér railway station to Platta. The station can be reached by the Rhaetian Railway from Chur and by the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway from Andermatt or Göschenen.

Hiking and trails

The Muschaneras circular hike begins and ends in Platta. It leads to the old alpine huts of Muschaneras; on the Muschaneras alp, it offers views across the entire valley. The circular hike is classified as moderately difficult to difficult, is 13 km long and takes around five hours.

The themed trail “Churches and Chapels of Val Medel” passes through Platta, is easy, 11.5 km long and takes around three hours and 46 minutes. It leads to twelve larger and smaller places of worship, including the churches in Platta and Curaglia, and presents their histories of origin as well as art-historical treasures.

Winter

Snowshoe trail 610, the “Tegia Nova Trail,” begins in Platta, is difficult, 10 km long and takes around five hours. The snowshoe tour to Tegia Nova leads above the tree line and offers views of the peaks of Val Medel and the upper Surselva.

The Tegia Nova snowshoe trail passes through a wildlife protection zone. Visitors are asked to remain in the signposted corridor there.

Culture

The Baroque parish church of St. Martin in Platta has a Romanesque church tower and a large painting of Saint Christopher on the south façade.

Services are held once or several times a year in some chapels in Val Medel; the hand-pulled bells of chapels near the settlements ring regularly.
