Davos Platz is one of the two neighboring population centers of Davos and lies at 1,560 meters above sea level. Davos is situated on the Landwasser River in the Rhaetian Alps between the Plessur and Albula mountain ranges.

Culture and History

The Knabenbrunnen fountain stands in the Platzgarten in Davos Platz, which is also called Postplatz. The ornamental fountain depicts playing boys and was created by Wilhelm Schwerzmann in 1928.

The old Church of St. John in Davos contained wall paintings; the church was remodeled in 1909.

Davos developed into the largest Walser settlement in Graubünden and founded the League of the Ten Jurisdictions in 1436. As its principal town, the municipality had a significant influence on the politics of the Three Leagues.

From the mid-19th century onward, Davos developed into an internationally renowned health resort; later, greater emphasis was placed on winter sports.
