Culture
The Maison forte d’Arare is a residential building from the 15th and 16th centuries protected as cantonal cultural heritage. Preserved features include a round entrance tower, monumental fireplaces from the respective period, ceilings with exposed beams, and carved elements.
Of the medieval castle of Saconnex-d’Arve, built around 1300, the Tour de l’ancien château de Saconnex-d’Arve has survived as a preserved tower protected at cantonal level. The Église de Saint-Bernard-de-Menthon contains stained-glass windows by Paul Monnier, created using painted-glass techniques and the processing of shards of glass.
The Distillerie de Saconnex-d’Arve was founded in 1895. Its premises are used by craftspeople who produce handcrafted beverages. The tour Découverte de Plan-les-Ouates focuses on public art, historic buildings, and local landmarks.

Nature
Traditional high-stem orchards are considered a structuring element of the regional landscape and the agricultural heritage of Plan-les-Ouates. The Verger haute-tige de Saconnex-d’Arve contains 18 different varieties of fruit trees, including the Croison variety, which originated in Saconnex-d’Arve.
A large part of the Bois du Milly and étangs de la Bistoquette sector has been a nature reserve managed by the canton since June 26, 2013. The area is used for observing amphibians, mammals, birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and other insects. New paths have been created to guide walkers and protect the forest.
Paths and History
Plan-les-Ouates has seven walking and hiking routes lasting one to two hours. Their themes include historical, architectural, and environmental features. The Ancien pressoir à vin is a symbol of Plan-les-Ouates’ winegrowing history.
The Via Jacobi pilgrimage route crosses Switzerland from Lake Constance to Geneva; Plan-les-Ouates is one of the stops along the route.
