Gunten: Hotels and Accommodation
Gunten is a village with a spa resort character that grew out of Sigriswil’s boat station. You would like to find or book a hotel in Gunten.
The Gunten Information Centre provides information about excursions, hiking maps, and tickets for buses, boats, and trains.
Culture
The Parkhotel and other grand hotels in Gunten are architecturally and historically significant as largely unaltered witnesses to the heyday of tourism and form part of the loose chain of grand hotels along the lake. One of the defining buildings is the Hotel Oberland: this three-storey, timber-shingled half-timbered building from the late 19th century has a solid ground floor, a supported row of balconies, and rich fretwork ornamentation.
The main street in the village centre has also retained its original narrow dimensions. Without a pavement, it leads from the acute-angled junction with Seestrasse past the village square to the stream bridge. The Oberländerhaus in Gunten was built in 1527.
Nature
Variant B of the Bernese Oberland Trail, also known as the Via Jacobi, passes through Gunten and continues towards Thun. Along the Gummischlucht themed trail, observation posts provide information about native birds, Nagelfluh geology, the gorge forest, and botanical features.
Gunten can be reached via the Gummischlucht themed trail after 45 minutes and 120 metres of ascent. The trail can also be walked in the opposite direction. The Gunten–Gummischlucht–Aeschlen–suspension bridge–Sigriswil route begins at the Gunten, Dorf stop, served by bus routes 21 and 25.
Water
Badhuus Gunten is located directly on the picturesque shores of deep-blue Lake Thun and has a sunbathing lawn for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding courses are offered at Badhuus.
At Wakehouse Gunten, you can try wakeboarding, water skiing, and wakesurfing. Stand-up paddleboards can also be rented there. Wakehouse Gunten can be reached by bus to the du Lac stop or by boat to Gunten.
From Gunten lido, you can go swimming directly in Lake Thun. Gunten is an ideal starting point for a boat trip on Lake Thun.
