Nature

The Gantrisch Panorama Trail and the Way of St. James are hiking trails associated with Riggisberg. In addition, Riggisberg has an extensive network of hiking trails. The Gantrisch Legends Trail can be started in Riggisberg. It is an approximately 50-kilometre themed route through Gantrisch Nature Park and tells the story of the former lord of the castle, Rabbentaler, in Riggisberg.

The Gantrisch region offers many kilometres of well-marked mountain biking and cycling routes. The Gantrisch via ferrata is a climbing activity that requires a via ferrata set, good fitness, sure-footedness and a head for heights. Riggisberg also has a family-oriented puzzle trail with activities for small children, older children, teenagers and adults.

Culture

Riggisberg Castle was built in 1700 by Albrecht von Erlach. Apart from a brief interruption, Riggisberg was under the rule of the von Erlach family for more than 400 years. Since 1967, Riggisberg has been home to the museum and the textile research institute of the Abegg Foundation. The Abegg Foundation holds changing special exhibitions on historical textiles; guided tours of Villa Abegg also include its representative rooms.

Riggisberg Castle can be visited year-round and offers views towards the Alps. Visitors can reach the Abegg Foundation by taking the S-Bahn to Toffen and the PostBus from Toffen to Riggisberg.

Rüeggisberg Monastery was the first Cluniac foundation in the German-speaking region. In Rüeggisberg, a museum that is open daily displays reliefs that are almost 1,000 years old, as well as information about the monastery and conservation work.
