Culture

The oldest written mention of Ipsach dates back to 1265. The archaeological evidence includes Neolithic traces, a Bronze Age settlement, and a Roman estate. Documented remains from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD have been preserved at the Roman estate; there are also extensive settlement remains from the Late Bronze Age.

Nature

Birlig offers views over Lake Biel and Biel's suburban municipalities. On the lakeshore at Erlenwäldli there are wooded areas, a natural stretch of shoreline east of the gravel beach, reeds, and a breakwater facility.

The nature zone along the Nidau-Büren Canal features bodies of water, a bird island, reeds, and a small viewing platform. Ipsach's lakeshore zone also has several public bathing areas with sunbathing lawns and showers. Its shoreline is mostly accessible and equipped with fire pits.

Leisure

The clubhouse of the Windsurfclub Ipsach is located in Erlenwäldli. In the lakeshore zone, the municipality of Ipsach rents out 23 dry storage spaces for boats, intended for dinghies and catamarans.

Several paths in the lakeshore area allow for a variety of walks. Every year, the Erlenwäldli Angling Club organizes a fishing event and a fish meal at Strandboden.

The planning sector on the lakeshore of Ipsach is home to the Le Cruchon restaurant and facilities of the Federal Office of Sport.
