Nature and Trails
The Alpine Garden on Schynige Platte showcases more than 600 plant species in natural plant communities and has approximately one kilometre of easy paths. The Castle Trail begins at the Alte Mühle village museum and reaches the Unspunnen ruins after approximately 20 minutes on foot. The panoramic restaurant on Schynige Platte serves Swiss specialities before or after a hike.
Culture and Village Character
Unspunnen Castle was built in the early 13th century and dominates the entrance to the Lütschinen Valley near Wilderswil. It gave its name to the first Unspunnen Festival, which took place there in 1805. The Unspunnen ruins were restored between 1988 and 1990. A village tour in Wilderswil showcases typical houses of the Bernese Oberland. Wilderswil has restaurants where you can stop for food and drink.

Wilderswil has train connections to Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Schynige Platte. The Schynige Platte Railway was built in 1893.
Location
Wilderswil lies on the southern edge of the Bödeli and at the entrance to the Lütschinen valleys. Together with Gsteigwiler and Saxeten, the village forms a small holiday region near Interlaken.
