History
The place was first documented in 1027 under the name Rore. The name derives from the Old High German expression “ze Rore,” meaning “by the reeds.”

The former municipal area extended from Suretwald to the banks of the Aare. Its highest point was located in Suretwald at approximately 380 metres; the banks of the Aare were at approximately 358 metres.
