Pietrzykowice was established in the 13th century on the site of a Slavic settlement destroyed by Tatar raids. Historically, the place was known as Schreibersdorf and was founded under Magdeburg Law.

History and sacred buildings

After Pietrzykowice had been a princely village, it was donated to the Cistercian Order from Rudy near Racibórz. The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a single-nave brick church with a tower.

The 34th Przegląd Zespołów Kolędniczych i Obrzędowych returned in 2023 to the stage of the OSP fire station in Pietrzykowice after two online editions held due to the pandemic; six groups performed.
