Discover Volda: Stadionparken, Fyrlykta and trails
Accommodation in Volda
Volda offers specific destinations in the town centre as well as a broader winter perspective on the wider Volda destination. In town, points of interest include Stadionparken, the pier with Fyrlykta, Volda Bygdetun, and trails along Elvadalen and Rotevatnet. Across the wider destination, there are several ski centres and areas with opportunities for touring. These two levels offer different starting points for planning a stay.
Stadionparken: Active pursuits in the town centre
Stadionparken by Volda Stadium includes a climbing park, a skate park, a ball court, a dirt park, an exercise park with equipment, a kangaroo area and a children's riding track. There are also paved paths for tricycles, bicycles and pedal cars, equipped with road signs and lane markings. Children can play there and learn traffic rules. The park is in the centre of Volda, next to the footpath along Elvadalen and Rotevatnet. This brings together a versatile place for exercise and play and a path along the valley and lake, each with a different focus.
Fyrlykta and the audio walk
The walk to Fyrlykta is a short, accessible stroll along the pier in the centre of Volda. Fyrlykta serves as a navigation marker for maritime traffic. It also serves as a reminder that, over several generations, many people from the region helped erect and maintain lighthouses and navigational marks along the Norwegian coast. Right beside Fyrlykta is a fjord portal with benches, where visitors can experience the fjord and the landscape at close quarters.
The Volda audio walk starts outside the town hall and ends at Lærarhøgskulen. You can do it on your own mobile phone at a time that suits you, either alone or with others. Unlike the short stroll along the pier, this walk focuses on a self-guided audio format and its two named endpoints. This makes it easy to choose between the two experiences based on how you want to explore.
Rotsethornet and Volda Bygdetun
Rotsethornet is known as Volda's town mountain and offers a beautiful view. The route from the centre of Volda to Rotsethornet first passes through Elvadalen along Øyraelva and to Rotevatnet, before continuing uphill to Kalsethola. It differs from the short walk to Fyrlykta: the route passes several named landscape features in succession before climbing to Kalsethola.
Volda Bygdetun is in the centre of Volda, right next to Rotsethornet. Several events take place there throughout the year, giving visitors the chance to experience the buildings and various activities. Check the latest event dates before your visit if you would like to plan your stay around an event.
