Winter Activities

The Aukštaitija National Park Visitor Center explains historical and current fishing methods. The visitor center also helps visitors choose a route through the park.

Culture

The ethnographic exhibition at the Ignalina Region Museum displays authentic household items, tools, and domestic appliances from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum also presents the history of the region and its inhabitants through crafts, customs, and traditions. Another exhibition explains old fishing methods and the importance of fish for the survival of the local population. Events, exhibitions, and educational programs are held there regularly.

The Ginučiai Water Mill preserves authentic equipment and presents an exhibition about the mill's operation and breadmaking. Palūšė's St. Joseph's Church is a cultural monument and an example of folk architecture dating from the second half of the 18th century. At Ignalina is ART'i, six artworks are permanently open to the public as an open-air gallery.

Nature

Ignalina's city beach offers a swimming area on the shore of Lake Gavys. The city beach also includes the more than half-a-kilometer-long barefoot health trail “Basom kojom.”

The Forest Park trail area is home to 25 species of land and water birds. It has a spot suitable for birdwatching with binoculars, as well as information boards, recreation areas, and terraces. The bridge over Lake Paplovinis enables a walk connecting the shores of the lake.
