La Villa: Landscape and trails

La Villa is surrounded by the Puez-Odle Nature Park. La Villa is also surrounded by the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. La Villa lies at the foot of the Fanes-Santa-Croce Group. Hiking and pilgrimage trails lead from La Villa to the Santa Croce sanctuary near the Armentarawiesen meadows. An alpine hiking route begins in La Villa and crosses the eastern part of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. When planning hikes, the protected landscape areas and the foot of the Fanes-Santa-Croce Group can be considered separately. A nature park is a protected landscape area. A pilgrimage trail is a route to a religious destination, while an alpine hike passes through alpine terrain.

Open-air gallery with Ladin verses

The Tru di artisć is an open-air gallery that opened in summer 2011. The Tru di artisć, the artists’ trail, features installations with verses in the Ladin language. The Tru di artisć is approximately 3.5 km long and closed to motorized traffic. Its approximate length and the restriction on motorized traffic give a clear framework to a visit to the Tru di artisć. An open-air gallery is an exhibition venue under the open sky. Installations are artistic works that engage with space and their surroundings. Verses give the displayed works a linguistic dimension, while the artists’ trail arranges the art along a route.

Parish church and sacred architecture

The present parish church of Our Lady in La Villa was consecrated in 1516. The parish church of La Villa contains interior paintings by the Pescoller artists, created in 1897 and 1949. The side altars of the parish church of La Villa feature a pronounced Tuscan-Gothic style. The interior paintings were created in 1897 and 1949, while the church had already been consecrated in 1516. Ciastel Colz: four towers and surrounding wall

Ciastel Colz is privately owned and not open to visitors. Ciastel Colz is also known as Castello di Colz and Residenza Rubatsch. Ciastel Colz has four towers—two rectangular and two round—as well as a surrounding wall and numerous loopholes. A loophole is a narrow opening in a fortification.

Winter connection: gondola lift and downhill ski run

The Piz La Ila gondola lift connects La Villa with the northern part of the ski area. A gondola lift is a cableway whose passengers are transported in enclosed cabins. Competitions in the Alpine Ski World Cup have been held on the Gran Risa downhill ski run since 1985. For winter planning, the connection to the northern part of the ski area and the competitions on Gran Risa can be considered separately. A downhill ski run is a marked ski piste for downhill skiing. The Alpine Ski World Cup comprises international competitions in alpine skiing.
