Sacred History

In the 12th century, an oratory dedicated to Saint Bernard of Menton was built in Someraro. After a severe earthquake, some of the population of Carciano fled to Someraro. The oratory was named “Oratorio di San Bernardo”. Later, a centrally located church building was constructed and dedicated to the Consolata. The Consolata is also known as Madonna della Cintura.

Cultural Destinations in the Surrounding Area

The Villa San Remigio and Palazzo Flaim are located in the area around Someraro; both are considered palaces. The Museo Internazionale Design Ceramico is also located nearby and is considered a museum. The Mausoleo Cadorna is considered a monument. The Funivia del Sasso del Ferro is considered a viewpoint. Culture enthusiasts can base their selection around Someraro on palaces, a museum, a monument and a viewpoint.

Landscape and Views

Monte Mazzarone is also located in the area around Someraro and is considered a peak. The beaches in this area include Spiaggia del Sasso Cavallazzo and Spiaggia dei Caravalle. Someraro itself is considered a panoramic balcony overlooking the Borromean Islands. For geographical orientation, the island view remains associated with Someraro; the peak and beaches are additional landscape destinations in the surrounding area.

Trails Through and to Someraro

The CAI M5 trail passes through Someraro along a descending section. Another route leads to Someraro and continues downhill along a restored old path towards Carciano and its lido. For trail planning, the distinction between the section through Someraro and the subsequent direction towards Carciano is relevant. On these local routes, Someraro is once a section of the route and once the reference point before the further descent. The “Natura e Spirito” travel route is divided into four main stages and can be completed on foot or using a means of transport. The four stages allow for consideration in individual sections; when travelling, walking and using a means of transport both remain possible. For practical trail planning, you can distinguish between the two local routes according to whether they pass through or lead to Someraro. Celebration in Someraro

On 15 August 2024, the “Someraro in Festa” celebration took place in the Someraro district. The programme of “Someraro in Festa” included a Mass at the Chiesa della Madonna della Cintura. The Mass thus establishes a sacred connection with the name of the Consolata, which is also known as Madonna della Cintura. The Chiesa della Madonna della Cintura was the venue where the Mass included in the celebration programme took place.
