Roccaforte Mondovì is located along the famous Via del Sale route. The Pieve di San Maurizio is documented in transfer deeds from the years 1001 and 1011. The Pieve di San Maurizio preserves an extensive collection of Romanesque frescoes from the 11th and 12th centuries. A transfer deed records a legal transfer in writing and forms part of legal history. Romanesque frescoes are medieval wall paintings.

Prea: Village Structure and Santuario di Sant'Anna

Prea is an Alpine village with a medieval layout, narrow lanes and typical houses of the upper valley. A medieval layout represents a village structure that developed organically and differs from modern, linear settlement planning. The Santuario di Sant'Anna served travellers, shepherds and pilgrims as a place to rest and seek refuge. The Santuario di Sant'Anna in S. Anna di Prea is considered the only example of French Baroque architecture among the religious buildings of Piedmont. Within a confined space, Prea displays a village setting with Alpine village structures and sacred architecture.

Bertini and the Regional Language

In the Middle Ages, the Cascinale dei Frati in Bertini was a monastery of the Dominicans or Benedictines. The Cascinale dei Frati features frescoes by Giovanni Mazzucco. A former monastic building and preserved frescoes give Bertini a clear art-historical and architectural-historical character. The Kyè dialect, with a distinctly Occitan origin, is spoken in Prea, Baracco and Rastello. A dialect is a regionally shaped form of language.

Valle Ellero and the Mongioie Massif

The Rifugio Mongioie in the Valle Ellero of the municipality of Roccaforte Mondovì is a starting point for high-Alpine hikes. Near the Rifugio Mongioie, the Mongioie Massif features spectacular limestone formations suitable for climbing.

Presepe Vivente in Prea

The Presepe Vivente in Prea was held on three evenings during the Christmas period: on 24 and 26 December and on 5 January. A Presepe Vivente is a living nativity scene. In one edition of the Presepe Vivente in Prea, more than 40 traditional crafts were depicted among the historic houses.
