Vidiciatico: Ski Slopes, Monte Pizzo, Trails and Local Culture
Accommodation in Vidiciatico
Vidiciatico is a starting point for the ski slopes and excursions in the Upper Apennines. The main points of interest are the landscape around Monte Pizzo, access to several routes, and events and attractions that appeal to visitors with interests beyond the ski slopes.
Winter setting between the Silla, Dardagna and Monte Pizzo
Vidiciatico lies between the Silla and Dardagna torrents at the foot of Monte Pizzo. The village is also surrounded by chestnut, pine, fir and beech woods. This combination shapes the area’s layout: Monte Pizzo represents the mountain setting and the connection to the ski slopes, while the woods and the two torrents provide the scenic backdrop for a stay.
Walking and mountain biking routes
Near the centre of Vidiciatico, signs point to Ca’ Gabrielli. This is where CAI Trail 129 begins.
The route to Monte Pizzo also offers its own way to experience the landscape. It leads from the meadows of Budiara along a trail to the village of Vidiciatico. In addition, the Budiara–Monte Pizzo loop above Vidiciatico can be ridden by mountain bike or e-bike. Whether on foot, on the route to Monte Pizzo or by bicycle, there are different ways to explore the surroundings without equating these routes with one another.
Conca del Sole as a water-based attraction
The municipal Conca del Sole swimming pool is a water oasis surrounded by greenery, with views over the Silla Valley and the surrounding mountains. The facility includes a 30-metre water slide. Conca del Sole also has hydromassage pools, hydrobikes and a baby park.
Conca del Sole includes the water slide, hydromassage pool, hydrobike and baby park. CAI Trail 129, the route to Monte Pizzo and the Budiara–Monte Pizzo loop, on the other hand, lead into the landscape around Vidiciatico.
Culture between the Oratorio, church and cinema
The Oratorio di San Rocco has a portico supported by columns made of local sandstone and a bell gable. Inside is a recently uncovered fresco depicting a standing male figure in a niche. The fresco probably dates from the time the building was constructed, in 1631.
The Festa del Voto is associated with San Rocco and takes place every year on 1 August. The new Church of San Pietro in Vidiciatico was consecrated on 29 June 1884.
The Cinema Teatro La Pergola shows first-run and second-run films, major cinema classics, independent films and documentaries. The programme also includes auteur animated films, small theatre productions, concerts, meetings, presentations and conferences. For visitors who would like to include film, theatre or events alongside mountains and trails, the Cinema Teatro is therefore an independent point of interest in Vidiciatico.
Festa del Borgo and regional specialities
The Festa del Borgo has been held for more than 20 years. The festival serves, among other things, ciacci made with chestnut flour, tigelle with cold cuts and polenta with wild boar.
If you would like to compare another destination in addition to Vidiciatico, you can also view Lizzano In Belvedere.
