Monte Curcio and Cross-Country Skiing

Camigliatello Silano is located in the immediate vicinity of the lifts to Monte Curcio and the cross-country ski trails. The Tasso–Monte Curcio cable car connects the station in the Tasso district at 1,380 metres above sea level with the Monte Curcio mountain station at 1,786 metres. The cable car operates in both winter and summer. Several loop trails for cross-country skiing start from Monte Curcio at an elevation of 1,768 metres; the mountain can be reached by lift from Camigliatello.

Train Ride and Visitor Access

The Treno della Sila runs from Camigliatello Silano to San Nicola–Silvana Mansio with a historic steam locomotive and carriages dating from the early 20th century. The Treno della Sila reaches a station with a track gauge of 950 mm at an altitude of over 1,400 metres, which is considered the highest narrow-gauge railway station in Europe.

A road leads to the Treno della Sila station; the station entrance is accessible to all visitors. Service staff assist people with disabilities when boarding the train. To get there, a bus continues from the regional railway station in Cosenza to Camigliatello and San Giovanni in Fiore.

Forests and Lago Cecita

The Strada delle Vette passes through pine and beech forests and can be explored from Camigliatello Silano. Numerous squirrels live in the forests around Camigliatello Silano. Lago Cecita can be reached from several locations by car or on foot via unpaved roads.

The Centro Visita Cupone near Camigliatello Silano on Lago Cecita combines environmental education with nature trails, wildlife observation points, a museum and a geological garden. The Riserva de I Giganti della Sila can be reached via the SS 107 (Silana-Crotonese) in the direction of Camigliatello Silano, taking the exit for the village of Croce di Magara and then following the signs; from this exit, it is 3 km.

Culture in Camigliatello Silano

La Nave della Sila is a museum on the Old Calabria Torre Camigliati estate in Camigliatello Silano. Torre Camigliati is an 18th-century baronial residence. A visit to the La Nave della Sila museum includes large-format photographs, a narrative voice and songs of Italian emigration.

The parish church of Santi Roberto e Biagio in Camigliatello Silano features pine wood in its walls and liturgical areas. The parish church also has an elaborate apse mosaic by Father Ugolino da Belluno.

A nature-themed theatrical route about Calabrian banditry is accompanied by popular songs and tarantella dances. Upon reservation, the route is performed in the forests of Camigliatello Silano and San Giovanni in Fiore, as well as near the Arvo and Cecita lakes.
