Culture

Ajka is home to a Baroque Reformed church built in 1783. The parish church on Szent István úti in Tósokberénd was completed in 1808 in the late Baroque style.

The Bányászati Múzeum in Ajka preserves a machine house, a shaft building, exhibition rooms in a blacksmith's workshop and underground storage rooms as part of Hungary's first open-air memorial site dedicated to the history of technology. From September 2010, the museum was renovated and developed into an interactive presentation venue for the history of technology at European level.

The Ajka Kristály glass factory began operations in Ajka in 1878 after the glassworks in Úrkút had been relocated there. Ajka Kristály continues to use traditional mouth-blown glassmaking techniques and produces both original and cut, coloured glass items.

The Városi Múzeum és Fotógaléria in Ajka preserves the memory of the years that Borsos Miklós, Fekete István and Molnár Gábor spent in the city. The mineral, rock and fossil cabinet displays well-known minerals from around the world, including ajkaite, which was named after Ajka.

The renovated building of the Kriptongyár and its surroundings provide space for contemporary international visual arts events as well as community events. The former building of the world's first Kriptongyár in Csingervölgy opened as a Multicultural Experience Centre in April 2023.

Kaszinó Park has an urban-themed adventure trail among the trees.

Nature

Ármin-völgyi Parkerdő is the excursion forest of the city of Ajka. The marked hiking trails there are 17.5 kilometres long in total.

Near Ajka, adjacent to Csinger-völgy and just a few minutes' walk from the Bányászati Múzeum, you will find the Olvasókabin. It combines a reading room with the practical features of an overnight shelter in the forest.

Sárcsi-kút is a popular destination for excursions.

Leisure

Kristályfürdő in Ajka has outdoor pools with various leisure attractions, an indoor pool, a sauna and a steam room. The seasonal leisure pool complex at Kristályfürdő has six heated pools, a water surface of 1,700 m² and various leisure attractions. It also offers children's pools, paddling pools and family-friendly services.

The municipal Ajka–Csingervölgy cycle path is 1,460 metres long and has a rest area. The Ajka–Csingervölgy cycle path project improves cycling access to the Bányászati Múzeum and the world's first Kriptongyár; it also connects the city's cycle network with the cycle path at Kab-hegy.

The cycle path around Kab-hegy is approximately 40 kilometres long. Along the route there are maps, signposts and rest areas, including two shelters providing protection from the rain.
