Cserkút: Hotels and Accommodation

Cserkút can be explored through concrete evidence of its local history and through destinations in the nearby and wider surrounding area. The village combines a small mill museum, a historically evolved church, and a collection dedicated to the local past.

Culture and History

The Malom Múzeum in Cserkút is Hungary’s smallest mill. It stands at its original location, and its mill machinery was renovated in 2019.

The museum also displays equipment associated with the mill and forge of the Kulin family, as well as objects received from local villagers.

The Keresztelő Szent János-templom is also part of the village’s history. Its origins are dated to the late 12th century; the western tower was added in the 14th century.

The Keresztelő Szent János-templom was restored in 1725. An archaeological excavation took place in 1967–68, followed by another restoration in 1970–72.

The local history collection is located in the basement of the mayor’s office. The building formerly served as a school and teacher’s residence.

The collection features traditional agricultural tools as well as objects from crafts such as woodworking, blacksmithing, and saddle and harness making.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Jakab-hegy is located near Cserkút. Misina, Tubes, and Kőlyuk are also situated in the surrounding area. The Duna-Drava National Park is likewise located in the vicinity of Cserkút.
