Plön is located in the Plön district in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, nestled in a landscape of lakes, forests, and meadows. The lake district and the adjoining areas belong to the hilly Holstein Switzerland region. The inland area of the Plön district is covered by lakes; Lake Plön and Lake Selent are considered the two largest lakes in Schleswig-Holstein.

Townscape and Culture

Plön’s old town lies below the castle hill. Small independent shops and cafés can be found there. Above the town stands Plön Castle, a 17th-century castle on a hill overlooking the town. It is considered the town’s landmark.

Those choosing Plön as a place to stay may want to find a hotel.
