Culture and History
The Markersbach railway viaduct is known by the names “Streichholzbrücke” and “matchstick bridge.” It was built in 1888, is 237 meters long, and 37 meters high.
St. Barbara’s Church in Markersbach contains substantial structural elements of a church built around 1250. Medieval murals depicting scenes from the Stations of the Cross have been preserved inside; the Trampeli organ was consecrated in 1806.
