St. Anne's Church is home to the Annaberg Mountain Altar. Its imagery depicts mining in the Annaberg mining district in the early 16th century. The 78.6-meter-high tower offers views across the city and the Ore Mountains; its stairwell houses exhibitions.

Culture

The Adam Ries Museum is the only Adam Ries memorial site located in a former house he lived in. As part of the Annaberg-Frohnau Mining Landscape, the Adam Ries House belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region.

At the Annaberg Reckoning School, visitors are taught historical calculation methods from the time of Adam Ries under guidance; visits are possible by prior arrangement. The guided Annaberg World Heritage Tour takes visitors through historic treasures, grand town houses, and important churches. The town layout, which reflects the wealth generated by mining, is also one of its themes.

Mining and experiences

In the Frohnau district, visitors can explore historic mine tunnels, see traditional machinery in operation, and walk through a landscape shaped by mining. The Frohnau Hammer preserves original hammer-mill technology and is a cultural monument of ore processing.

In Annaberg-Buchholz, you will find evidence of the mining era, sacred art, historic crafts, and delicate handicrafts. Visitors can enter three mines to trace the city's silver-ore history underground.

The Manufaktur der Träume Experience Museum displays more than 1,000 works of art from four centuries of the Ore Mountains. The exhibition explicitly invites visitors to take an active part. The Manufaktur der Träume includes the Schokoguschl chocolate show factory with a café. At the Adam Ries Museum, guests can earn a calculation diploma using Adam Ries's calculation methods.

Nature and trails

The mining educational trail on the Pöhlberg is a 6.31-kilometer circular hiking trail of moderate difficulty with panoramic views. It leads through the mining landscape on the Pöhlberg, highlighting nature, the landscape, and the views along the way.

The trail passes the Pöhlbergalm natural monument and offers views across the Ore Mountains ridge. Annaberg-Buchholz's digital experience trail connects visitors with UNESCO World Heritage sites through multimedia content. Families can experience the city from a different perspective along the way.
