Nature and trails

There is a local circular hiking trail in Mörsbach. The Mörsbach rises in Obermörsbach and flows towards the Große Nister. In the surrounding Westerwald, the Weltende nature trail follows narrow paths with an alpine character. Also in the surrounding Westerwald, the Marienwanderweg is designated as an alternative route for less experienced hikers.

The municipality has designated four hiking car parks: at the Bürgerhaus, at the cemetery car park in Burbach, at the Brunken hiking car park, and in Obermörsbach. The car park at the Bürgerhaus is free of charge, has space for about 12 vehicles, and can be reached via Schulstraße 10.

History and culture

The Mörsbach Village Museum is a private museum owned by the Wirdeier family. Its exhibition focuses on living, life, and work in the Westerwald; the majority of the collection consists of regional finds. Visits can be arranged by telephone.

Mörsbach was first documented as “Mersbach” in 1335. Also in 1335, the estates of Mersbach were transferred to the abbot and convent of Marienstatt Abbey with the consent of all heirs.

Local area

At Birkenhof, the cattle live outdoors all year round on certified organic pastures. Birkenhof manages around 80 hectares of grassland. Once sufficient demand has been received, Birkenhof markets beef in packages of approximately 12 or 22 kilograms.
