Nature and Trails

The Moseltalschanzen Route passes the Roten Quellen and the Elfenpfad before reaching the Moseltherme Traben-Trarbach. The Moseltherme offers a 2,000-square-metre water and steam area as well as a sauna complex and views of the vineyards of Traben-Trarbach. Traben-Trarbach offers nature experiences on foot and by bicycle.

Architecture and History

In Traben-Trarbach, Art Nouveau and Belle Époque buildings can be explored in concentrated form alongside Baroque, neoclassical and Moselle-style architecture. Key cultural heritage features in Traben-Trarbach include the Brückentor, the ruins of Grevenburg, Mont Royal Fortress and the Trarbach Museum District.

The restored Old Town Tower is a prominent surviving remnant of Trarbach’s medieval fortifications. Its platform offers views across the rooftops of the twin town. The tower houses a collection of historic fireplace, tile and stove panels from the nearby Mittelmosel Museum. The carillon at the Old Town Tower has 28 bronze bells and is considered the largest carillon in the Moselle region.

Museums and Walking Tour

The Zeitreise Museum displays historic and iconic bicycles as well as bicycle accessories such as carbide lamps and head badges. It also has a restored collection of dolls, dollhouses and antique toys. A dedicated section focuses on the 1950s, featuring furniture, technology and fashion. The collection also includes antique trains, railway stations and tracks.

Wine and the Moselle

Straußwirtschaften are wine-growing establishments that serve their own wines with small regional dishes.
