Kleinich's distinctive church has been documented since 1318. Its preserved bell tower was incorporated into a replacement church built by 1790. Roman finds discovered during demolition work suggest that an earlier ancient place of worship stood at this site.

The Kleinich route combines open uplands with fields, wooded stream valleys, flowing water, quartzite blocks, the Bildstein rock formation, entrances to slate caves and the remains of a mill.

Bus connections to the settlements in the Kleinich parish are limited. Travelling by car is recommended; there is a small car park by the church. There are no refreshment or supply facilities along the trail. Visitors are therefore advised to bring provisions.
