Meschede has two ski slopes: at the Eversberg ski lift and the Grevenstein ski lift. They differ in length and vertical drop. At the same time, there are options ranging from hiking trails and cultural activities to things to do at Lake Henne. Ski slopes in Eversberg and Grevenstein
The Eversberg ski lift has a ski slope approximately 180 metres long, with a vertical drop of around 25 metres, and a button lift. The slope is suitable for children.
The Grevenstein ski lift has a ski slope approximately 700 metres long, with a vertical drop of around 100 metres. A 50-metre-wide toboggan run is located right next to it. Comparing the two slopes by their measurements reveals a marked difference in length and vertical drop; Grevenstein also has the specifically mentioned tobogganing option.
Trails for different kinds of outings
The Meschede Höhenwanderweg is a circular trail marked with an “M” that passes through the town area. It runs from Erflinghausen via Grevenstein and Freienohl to Eversberg, offering views across the region. Those interested in a longer hike can take the Sauerland-Waldroute, a 240-kilometre long-distance trail from Iserlohn to Marsberg. In Meschede, the route passes through Arnsberg Forest Nature Park; there is a trail access point in Eversberg at Buchsplitt.
For a shorter walk, try the Altstadtpfad in Eversberg: this circular route is about 2.5 kilometres long and passes the historic town hall and half-timbered houses. From the castle ruins, you can enjoy views across Eversberg. There is also an adventure playground in the shape of a knight’s castle along the way. At Lake Henne, the circular hiking trail marked “A8” goes all the way around the reservoir and offers views of the lake.
In Meschede, the Henne Boulevard connects the lake and the town over a distance of two kilometres. It passes Hennepark and the open Henne sculpture at Winziger Platz, and features an accessible fitness trail. On the shore of Lake Henne, the Wogenweg combines a walk with culture: twelve steles display changing poems on different themes.

At the Berghausen bathing bay on Lake Henne, activities include swimming, stand-up paddleboarding at the water sports station, sailing and rowing. Pirate Bay is a free outdoor adventure playground with a pirate ship, climbing and play equipment, and an accessible inclusive area. From the parking area at the bathing bay, an accessible path leads there in about five minutes. Benches in quiet and relaxation areas also provide places to unwind and have a picnic.
Those who want to experience the landscape from the water can plan a 1.5-hour scheduled cruise on the fully electric event ship EMS Hennesee. The ship is accessible and can accommodate up to 550 guests. For nature enthusiasts, the bee discovery trail in Freienohl features seven information boards on bees and beekeeping; at the end, there is an observation hive with a living bee colony.
Culture can also be part of your travel plans. The Kulturdenkmal Sägemühle in Remblinghausen offers a journey through 200 years of living and working conditions, as well as guided tours, a children’s programme and a variety of activities. In Meschede, public tours led by the Benedictines on Saturdays provide information about monastic life and the life and work of the Benedictines at Königsmünster Abbey.
