History and Culture
The monastery mill in Caldern is a historic mill first mentioned in 1389. Originally, it belonged to a Cistercian monastery and later to the University of Marburg. The milling tradition was continued by the Pfeiffer family until 1987 and thereafter by their grandson Markus Schautes.
