Landscape
In the immediate vicinity of Osterzell are Gollenberg, a mountain, as well as the hills Hasenberg and Schellberg. A little farther away in the surrounding region is Auerberg, also a mountain.
Culture and History
The foundation stone for Osterzell’s parish church of St. Stephen and Oswald was laid in 1180. The former castle stands opposite the church; its central building has been preserved.
The historical sites Hofgraben Tower, Neue Bergstrasse Bastion, Neue Bergstrasse Eastern Tower, and Alte Bergstrasse 450 Tower are located somewhat farther away in the surrounding region of Osterzell.
The name Osterzell also refers to the history of the place: it refers to an eastern cell associated with Kempten Abbey.
