Käsbaur Dairy and Allgäu Organic Hay Milk
At the Käsbaur cheese shop in Grünenbach, you can sample specialities made with Allgäu organic hay milk. The Käsbaur dairy processes organic hay milk into hard and semi-hard cheese, as well as butter, quark, milk and cream. The range therefore includes both cheese and other dairy products.
The dairy was originally founded in 1886 by the Baldauf brothers and was taken over by Käsbaur GmbH & Co. KG in December 2020. It is also one of fourteen selected dairies visited by the Allgäu Cheese Route. Visits for groups of ten or more are available by arrangement, so please agree on a time in advance.
Cycling and Pilgrimage Trails, Eistobel Nearby
The Lake Constance–Königssee Cycle Route passes through Grünenbach. Those interested in a pilgrimage route can use the Jakobweg in Grünenbach as a pilgrimage trail. The two routes offer different ways to explore the area: cycling along the cycle route through the village or following a pilgrimage route in the Grünenbach area.
Nearby, the Eistobel nature reserve is a particularly scenic destination for an excursion from Grünenbach. The area is three and a half kilometres long. Visitors can follow four different circular hiking trails through the Eistobel to explore its natural spectacle at their own pace. Trail conditions may vary by season, so check them before setting out.
The Eistobel information pavilion also serves as the main entrance to the Eistobel. It is located right by the Argentobel Bridge between Maierhöfen and Grünenbach. This means the pavilion can be distinguished geographically from sights located directly in Grünenbach.
Culture and Leisure in the Village
The Freigerichtsdenkmal monument on the Buch is a worthwhile destination right by Grünenbach. The Kult- und Thingstätte is also located directly by the village. The parish churches of St. Ottmar and St. Elisabeth are among Grünenbach’s sights. The Hohenegg castle ruins offer visitors a glimpse into the history of the Allgäu.
The Laubenberg-Stüble offers a range of leisure activities for the whole family, including mini golf, darts and table football. In summer, the Grünenbach tourist association also stages several performances of a German fairy tale on an outdoor forest stage. The event appeals to both children and adults. If you plan to attend a performance, check the dates in advance.
