Accommodation in Obersteben
Obersteben is a district of Bad Steben. Bad Steben offers the panoramic cross-country ski trail as a winter option. It is 6.6 kilometers long, easy and designed for the classic technique.
Hiking trails lead through Obersteben and onward into the surrounding countryside
The Hirschhügel Trail US 32 provides a clear connection between Bad Steben, Obersteben and the surrounding countryside destinations. It leaves Bad Steben via the road to Obersteben, passes through the entire village and turns right shortly before the edge of the village. The trail then leads to the watershed trail and onward to Friedelhöhe.
The Hirschhügel Trail offers magnificent panoramic views and impressive views in all directions along almost its entire route. The Jungbrunnen Trail HRW 1 reaches the Frankenwarte on the 679-meter-high Hirschhügel. The Silla Trail US 33 is also an easy hiking trail measuring 12.9 kilometers. The Silla Trail is longer at 12.9 kilometers than the panoramic cross-country ski trail at 6.6 kilometers; however, the routes belong to different activities.
Frankenwarte: Panoramic views and seasonal opening hours
The Frankenwarte is located between Bad Steben and Geroldsgrün and can be reached via various hiking trails. From there, the panoramic view extends to the hills around the Höllental valley, Lichtenberg and Bad Steben. The seasonal opening hours are crucial when planning an excursion: From April 1 to November 1, the Frankenwarte is open continuously; during the winter months, it is closed.
The Obersteben–Schwedenwacht–Friedelhöhe countryside area is also particularly important for recreation in a natural setting.
Cycling tours with Obersteben as part of the route
Obersteben is also incorporated into several routes for bicycles and e-bikes. E-Bike Tour 1 „A Trial Ride into Hell“ follows the road through Obersteben and then leads back to the outskirts of Bad Steben. After Obersteben, the tour continues along Trail No. 5 of the Bad Steben bike network.
Another regional cycling tour leads to Obersteben, passing colorful meadows and the Frankenwarte with its impressive panoramic view. The return route leads through the Seifengrund to Bad Steben.
Historical traces at Silla-Ort
Between Langenbach and Obersteben, Silla-Ort is associated with a former chapel. At a former church path, an embankment with a well rises in a meadow. The Silla Trail US 33 complements this area of interest with its length of 12.9 kilometers and its classification as an easy hiking trail.
