Urberg: Winter Tours, Mining Trail and Albsteig
Accommodation in Urberg
The Urberg community room is a starting point for winter tours. The mining trail can be started at the Mineral Museum in Urberg. At RĂĽttewies, the mining path is integrated into the mining trail. The mining trail connects the sites of the former mining industry. The community room therefore represents the connection to winter, while the mining trail takes up the historical connection to the former mining sites.

Mineral Museum and Historic Buildings
The Gottesehre Mineral Museum in Urberg displays an extensive collection of minerals. In Dachsberg-Urberg, the Gottesehre Mineral Museum was established in 2001 in the basement of the former schoolhouse. Thus, in addition to the minerals, the building’s former purpose is also part of the museum’s specific local connection. The institution links the museum’s name with Urberg and Dachsberg-Urberg without losing sight of the schoolhouse’s historic character.
Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul
The parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Urberg contains a remarkable altar from the mid-17th century. This altar is said to have come from the New Minster in St. Blasien, which burned down in 1768. The connection to St. Blasien is therefore part of the altar’s origin, although it remains phrased as a possible origin. In Inner-Urberg, the parish church of St. Peter and Paul dates from 1816. For those interested in culture, both ecclesiastical art and different historical periods are therefore central points of interest.
Bildsteinfelsen and the Black Forest Albsteig
The Bildsteinfelsen viewpoint below the Goldenhof offers a wide view over the Alb Valley. The long-distance hiking trail Albsteig Schwarzwald also passes the Bildsteinfelsen along its 83 km route. Plan your hike on the Albsteig Schwarzwald based on its full 83 km course, not just the section at the Bildsteinfelsen. The rock is thus connected both with the Alb Valley and with the route of the long-distance hiking trail. The 83 km route length is a specific planning figure for the Albsteig and distinguishes this trail connection from the shorter local thematic attractions in Urberg and Dachsberg-Urberg.
Zeidler Trail near Dachsberg-Urberg
The Zeidler Trail is also located near the Goldenhof in Dachsberg-Urberg. Information boards explain how honey was once harvested and bees were kept. The trail is therefore dedicated to former beekeeping and apiculture practices. Its theme complements the history of mining with another historical connection without conflating the two subjects.
A Former Mine as a Bat Refuge
Below the Bildsteinfelsen lies the former Grube Gottesehre fluorite and barite mine. Today, it serves as a refuge for many bats. The site therefore combines the mine’s former purpose with a present-day function for bats. Its location below the Bildsteinfelsen also establishes a spatial connection to the viewpoint. This keeps the former use as a mine clearly distinct from the animals’ present-day refuge.
