Marxzell: Hotels and Accommodations

At the Marxzell Vehicle Museum, you can see more than 140 automobiles as well as 170 motorcycles and two-wheeled vehicles. The museum also includes a historic cinema showing a film about the history of the automobile.

Culture and History

The Monastery Villages Circular Trail begins at Marxzell railway station, directly next to the Vehicle Museum. It passes the St. Wendelinus Chapel and the Kantebuahaus Village Museum in Pfaffenrot. The Kantebuahaus documents rural life in the Alb Valley hinterland, particularly in Pfaffenrot, up to the mid-20th century. The reconstructed domestic and agricultural areas include a cellar, courtyard, stable, shed, barn entrance, and garden.

The ruins of Frauenalb Abbey Church are a landmark of Marxzell and the Alb Valley. Cultural events take place in Frauenalb every year, as do monastery festivals in August. The Monastery Villages Circular Trail also passes the Frauenalb monastery ruins, a significant structure dating from 1180.

Nature and Trails

Marxzell’s recreational landscape includes forests, cultivated fields, and mountain streams. The Burbach Circular Hiking Trail is an exploration tour through forests and fields under the motto “Nature Meets Wood Art.”

More than 300 Icelandic horses are based at the Wiesenhof Icelandic Horse Center.

From Metzlinschwander Hof, the Monastery Villages Circular Trail offers extensive views over the former monastery villages.
