Water and Landscape
The Kingfisher Trail at the Nagold Reservoir is an approximately 500-metre-long, easy educational trail. It starts at the kingfisher information pavilion and leads, among other things, to a biotope, an insect hotel and viewing platforms. The trail also includes a water play area with an approximately 100-metre-long miniature Nagold for children.
At the Nagold Reservoir in Erzgrube, you can swim in the forebay and use the lake for sailing, windsurfing, rowing, kayaking and fishing. Sailing and windsurfing are restricted to the main lake and the period from 1 April to 30 September; swimming remains restricted to the forebay.
There are six public and two private parking areas in the Nagold Reservoir area. There is a viewing tower at the information pavilion. Public toilets are located at the Nagold inflow and at parking areas 2, 4 and 6.
Hiking and Transport Options
A moderately difficult 12.1-kilometre circular hike starts in Erzgrube on Seestraße. It combines views over the Nagold Reservoir and the Nagold Valley with the Große Tannen nature reserve, the Bannwald protected forest, the dam, the Kingfisher Trail and the water playground.
In connection with the Erzgrube hiking trail, VGF bus route 7787 and the Freudenstadt–Seewald leisure bus are among the public transport options.
