Sölden: Hotels and Accommodations

Sölden lies between the Schönberg-Hohfirst area and the Black Forest. The hiking trails in the town are integrated into the network of trails maintained by the Black Forest Hiking Association.

Hiking

The historic Bettlerpfad trail runs from Merzhausen, located near Freiburg, through the Hexental valley and the Norsinger Grund valley to Badenweiler in the Markgräflerland region. It is approximately 27 kilometers long and can be divided into five stages. The stage from Wittnau to Bollschweil covers approximately 4 kilometers and has little elevation gain.

Nature

The Hexental valley is a foothill zone of the Southern Black Forest. Its species-rich fauna and flora are protected under nature conservation law. The Southern Black Forest Nature Park is considered an area with diverse wildlife and varied landscapes.

Culture

The Sölden Benedictine convent priory was subordinate to Cluny from 1115 to 1570. In 2003, Sölden joined the Fédération des Sites Clunisiens. The town is connected with the Cluniac sites of the Black Forest.

Getting There

Sölden has access to public transportation and is located directly on the L 122 between Schönberg and Schauinsland.

Culinary Offerings and Local Services

A weekly market has been held at Lindenplatz since July 2012. There, a mobile sales vehicle operated by Stiegeler Butcher's offers meat and sausage specialties. Sölden is also home to the Gerteiser Country Butcher's, which sells meat and sausage products directly. Thomas Uhl is associated with the direct sale of schnapps and fruit spreads in Sölden, while Ludwig Vetter is associated with the direct sale of potatoes, apples, apple juice, and eggs.

Sölden has a fully stocked EDEKA supermarket with a Beckesepp Café. The café offers unobstructed views of nature.
