Culture and architecture

Since 1970, the Centre d’Art de Flaine has presented exhibitions and workshops on contemporary art. It offers changing exhibitions and admission is free.

Flaine’s Chapelle Œcuménique was inaugurated in 1973 and built from wood and slate without concrete. Including its furnishings, it has been protected as a historic monument since 2014. The chapel is located opposite the tourist office and can be reached from Flaine Forêt via the orange inclined lifts.

The historic Marcel-Breuer complex in Flaine received the French Ministry of Culture’s “Patrimoine Architectural du XXème siècle” designation in 2008. The “Le Flaine” hotel was also added to the supplementary register of historic monuments in 1991.

Advance reservations are required for the guided tour of Flaine’s cultural heritage.

Outdoor activities

The Parcours aventure – Expert is located in Flaine Forum behind the Chapelle Œcuménique, near the Comptoir des Activités. It includes Tarzan jumps, suspension bridges, and zip lines. Climbing harnesses and a safety line are used, and the activity is supervised by qualified instructors.

Accro-Roc is a mini via ferrata route on a rock face.

The Désert de Platé is considered one of the largest lapiaz landscapes in Europe.

Le Carnet de Marcel is a day hike with the option of taking a picnic break.
