Nature and Location

Hojná Voda is situated in a mountain saddle between Vysoká and Kraví hora. Vysoká is a mountain in the vicinity of Hojná Voda; Zaječí, Nebelstein and Schindelberg are mountains in the surrounding area.

The Hojná Voda National Nature Monument preserves a remnant of original, primeval-forest-like woodland that has been left to develop naturally. It has been under special protection since 28 August 1838.

Trails and Viewpoints

The Hojná Voda educational trail begins at the Hospodárná forest road, which connects to the local Dobrá Voda–Hojná Voda road. Among other things, the educational trail provides information about nature conservation.

The observation platform on Kraví hora is 24 metres high and can be reached via a spiral staircase with 130 steps. From the platform, there is a view of the Novohradské Mountains and, in particularly clear weather, as far as the Alps.

Local History and Architectural Landmarks

At the end of the 16th century, Hojná Voda had two bathhouses and a church. A chapel stands in the centre of the village below the former church and in the immediate vicinity of the St. Anne Spring.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Hojná Voda has a balustrade and the remains of an alms column. The former bakery is a single-storey L-shaped building that was converted into its present form in the first half of the 19th century.

Landmarks in the Landscape

The Setkávání bell hangs in a so-called Sun Gate structure in the open landscape and was donated by the Perner bell foundry.

In the wider region around Hojná Voda are Rosenhof Castle, a castle; Jägerkreuz, a wayside shrine; Geyersteine, a monument; and Lunkowitzkreuz, a wayside shrine.
