The Loreto in Bor was founded in 1668 by Isabella von Götzen, née Trčková z Lípy, and her husband Zikmund Bedřich von Götzen. At its center is the so-called Holy House, surrounded by four wings of vaulted ambits. During the Loreto pilgrimage in September, the Loreto is open to the public.

Culture

The Church of Saint Nicholas in Bor is a Baroque building dating from 1737 to 1746 and has a Gothic tower. A Gothic Chapel of Saint John the Baptist stands by the former hospital. A fragment of the town walls has also been preserved in the northern part of Bor.

History

Bor Castle was shaped by extensive Romantic reconstruction in the first third of the 19th century. Restored Renaissance paintings can be found in the Castle Chapel of Saint Lawrence. The castle's cultural values are presented to the public during guided tours.

Landscape

Bor Castle Park was created around the second half of the 18th century and is a landscape park with Romantic elements. It contains seven stations intended for educational exploration, pleasant relaxation, and walks.

A near-natural landscape park covering just under 40 hectares is located on the southern outskirts of Bor. It consists of groups and larger stands of old trees separated by meadows.

Routes

Bor lies on the E50 road along the Plzeň–Stříbro–Bor–Rozvadov route. Cycle Route 2207 leads directly to Bor and runs via Borovany, Bor, Lužná, Labuť, former Bohuslav, Hošťka, and former Nová Knížecí Huť.
