History
Javorná was first mentioned in writing in 1614. St. Anne’s Church has two onion-shaped towers covered with shingles. It was expanded from a chapel dating from 1698 between 1718 and 1721 by the Italian-born builder Marc Antonio Gilmetti, who added a nave and a façade with two towers. Inside are tombstones of the glassmaking families Gerl, Hagenbrädl and Adler from the 18th and 19th centuries.
There were numerous glassworks in the territory of the former royal magistracy of Javorná, formerly called Zejbiš. Most holders of the office of chief magistrate, who represented the inhabitants of Královský hvozd to the authorities, came from Zejbiš (Javorná). Artificial pearls and Páteříky glass beads were historically produced at Páteříková Huť. A group of enthusiasts also operates a small forest glass furnace there.
The Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Javorná dates from 1723 and is freely accessible.
Nature
The Páteříková Huť protected area safeguards the dynamically developing herbaceous and woody communities at all stages of natural development.
