RED Mountain Resort is located in Rossland. If you’re looking for a ski hotel in Rossland, the town offers several ways to shape your stay: explore its history downtown, see a summer musical, or enjoy seasonal mountain activities. First, consider whether you’d most like to discover Rossland’s past or spend time on hiking trails and in the bike park during your visit.

Rossland’s History Downtown

The Heritage Rossland Walking Tour brochure provides information about Rossland’s early history and 31 historic buildings and sites within walking distance in the downtown area. It connects historical context with specific places around town. Pick up the brochure at City Hall or the museum; it’s a helpful starting point if you’d like to learn more about Rossland’s history.

The Chinese Gardens tell a different part of the town’s story. They are considered the last surviving Chinese market gardens not destroyed by urban development, and are rare examples of Chinese-Canadian market gardening in British Columbia. This cultural connection adds a distinct topic to the story of Rossland’s early history.

The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre is located at 1100 Hwy 3B, Rossland, BC V0G 1Y0. The museum offers tours by appointment during the summer months. If you’d like to book a tour, arrange a time in advance; also check opening hours before your visit. Museum tours and the Heritage Rossland Walking Tour brochure are two separate ways to explore the town.

Gold Rush History on Stage

The Gold Fever Follies have presented a new musical every summer since 1987. The shows are loosely based on historical events and people from Rossland’s Gold Rush era. This brings the town’s history to the stage in a new format each year, while the Heritage brochure and historic sites focus more on downtown Rossland. If seeing a performance is important to your trip, check the dates during your stay.

Scenic Chairlift Ride, Hiking Trails, and Bike Park

At RED Mountain, a scenic ride on the Silverlode Chair offers panoramic views of Rossland, the Monashee Mountains, and the surrounding Kootenay landscape. A network of scenic hiking trails starts from the top of the Silverlode Chair, including the family-friendly Huckleberry Loop. Lift and trail offerings may be seasonal. Keep this in mind when planning your trip and check availability for your dates.

The RED Mountain Bike Park offers unlimited lift-served laps on purpose-built trails designed to help riders progress their skills. This is quite different from the scenic chairlift ride and hiking trails: the bike park focuses on repeated laps on technical trails, while the Silverlode Chair ride combines views with access to the hiking trail network. The Huckleberry Loop is specifically described as family-friendly; this does not mean the entire trail network is suitable for families.

Plan Your Stay Around the Season and Your Interests

Rossland offers different reasons to visit, and they don’t all fall within the same time frame. The Gold Fever Follies and museum tours are described as summer activities; lift operations and hiking trails may be seasonal. If one of these offerings is a key part of your trip, check performance dates, arrange a museum tour, or confirm the seasonal availability of the lift and trails.
