West Kelowna offers several distinct starting points for planning a stay: trails with specific distances and routes, self-guided cultural experiences, and wine and seasonal harvests. Goats Peak Regional Park has two named hiking trails; the Boucherie Rush Trail leads to the summit of Mt Boucherie.

Hiking Trails and Mountain Scenery

The 52-hectare Goats Peak Regional Park includes the Big Sagebrush Trail and the Mountain Goat Trail. The Big Sagebrush Trail is 1,330 metres each way and runs along a ridge with views of Okanagan Lake. The Mountain Goat Trail is 1,270 metres each way; it follows a zigzag route to a viewing platform at the summit. The distances are similar, but the descriptions highlight different features: a ridge and lake views on one trail, and a zigzag route and viewing platform on the other.

The Boucherie Rush Trail is another named hiking route in West Kelowna. It leads to the summit of Mt Boucherie, is 6 km round trip, and is rated moderate to difficult. Mt Boucherie is an extinct volcano, 50 to 60 million years old. This provides geological context alongside a specific description of the hike. Trail conditions, maintenance and access may change; check current conditions before visiting.

A Route for Cycling and Walking

The Boucherie Multi-Use Path & Recreation Corridor offers a different kind of route: it is scenic, 4.8 km long, and intended for cyclists and pedestrians. Along the corridor are a brewery, a birdwatching area, a playground and a beach. Those choosing the route can cycle or walk, with these different points along the way serving as landmarks. Surface and access conditions, as well as amenities along the route, may change; check before setting out.

The Westbank Museum also offers self-guided tours. Museum opening hours and visitor procedures may change.

Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park, a historic nut orchard, is located on the Gellatly Bay waterfront. In autumn, visitors can take part in the annual nut harvest and gather heritage varieties of chestnuts, walnuts and hazelnuts. Dates and participation requirements may vary; check them if the nut harvest is an essential part of your plans.

Wine and Market

The Westside Wine Trail in West Kelowna has 17 wine-tasting rooms. The wineries can be explored on a self-guided tour; the number of tasting rooms and the participation of individual wineries may change. The Westbank Farmers’ Market in Westbank Centre offers fresh market produce, fruit, baked goods and artisan products. Market dates and vendor offerings may also change. If you’re planning a visit, check the latest dates and offerings.
