Experience nature, cycling and culture in Reichraming
Accommodation in Reichraming
Reichraming is a versatile destination for anyone who wants to combine nature experiences, cycling and regional history. The highlights include Kalkalpen National Park, paths through the Reichraminger Hintergebirge, historical museums and excursion destinations by the water. If you are looking for accommodation in Reichraming, you can plan your stay according to whether you prefer hiking, cycling, admiring landscapes or learning about the history of wood and metal processing.
Experience nature and choose your routes
The approximately 6-kilometre family-friendly circular hiking trail “Im Tal des Holzes” leads through the valuable ecosystem of near-natural beech forests in Kalkalpen National Park. This provides a manageable hiking option for visitors who would like to gain an insight into the forest landscape. Those looking for longer or more mountain-oriented destinations can keep Anlaufalm in Kalkalpen National Park in mind as a destination for hikers and mountain bikers. From there, there is a view of the Größtenberg in the Hintergebirge.
Ebenforstalm is also located in Kalkalpen National Park and is described as a hiking destination. From the alp, the view extends across the Reichraminger Hintergebirge and the Sengsengebirge. The Anton-Schosser-HĂĽtte on the Hohe Dirn serves as a starting point for short to medium-length circular hikes and is also an excursion destination for the whole family. The KlaushĂĽtte was built in 1758 and formerly served as accommodation for forestry workers. These different destinations allow you to choose between short circular trails, alpine pasture destinations and historical traces.
Cycling and excursions by the water
For cyclists, the Hintergebirge cycle path is an important reference point. It follows the route of the former forest railway with gentle gradients as far as WeiĂźwasser. From the village square in Reichraming, the route initially follows a paved municipal road with hardly any inclines. This information helps you classify the tour according to the desired route character without confusing different paths with one another.
ARENA SCHALLAU is a landscape park on the banks of the wild Reichramingbach stream, on the site of a former timber rafting facility. Climbing, cycling, creek hiking and beach volleyball are offered there. In summer, the clear water of the Reichramingbach invites visitors to swim. Another excursion option is a carriage ride with a hearty snack, leading along the Ramingbach into the Reichraminger Hintergebirge.
Wood, brass and regional history
The Holzknecht Museum Reichraming is housed in the former WallerhĂĽtte, which once served as an evening meeting place for the woodcutters. Using tools, models and visual material, the museum documents the way of life and work of woodcutters in the 19th and 20th centuries. For a stay with a cultural focus, this visit can be complemented by the Brass Museum.
The Brass Museum presents the economic history of the brass factory as well as the achievements and culture of its workforce. Its centrepiece is a 1:10 scale model of the brass factory. It was created based on an 18th-century painting and explains the process of brass production in Reichraming in several stages. At Schieferstein, you can also still see mine pits from medieval iron ore mining.
Choose accommodation to suit your travel plans
When looking for a hotel or other accommodation in Reichraming, it is worthwhile deciding on the focus of your trip in advance. For hikes and viewpoints, the destinations in Kalkalpen National Park and on the Hohe Dirn are the main attractions. Cyclists can consider the Hintergebirge cycle path and the activities at ARENA SCHALLAU. Anyone wishing to learn about regional history will find two different themes in the Holzknecht Museum and the Brass Museum.
The Ennstal Visitor Centre is located nearby, between Reichraming and Großraming. It provides information on hiking and mountain biking routes, themed trails, the opening hours of the alpine pastures and huts, as well as regional excursions. The “Wunderwelt Waldwildnis” exhibition is also part of the visitor centre. For further information about nearby towns, you can also view Ternberg, Weyer, Laussa, Losenstein, Maria Neustift and Grossraming.
For specific tour planning, the “L4 Bahnhof Reichraming – Schieferstein” tour is also relevant: It begins at Reichraming railway station. This allows you to take your desired activity into account when preparing for your stay, while choosing your accommodation according to your personal focus on nature, cycling, culture and excursions by the water.
