Eben Am Achensee: Culture and Trails
Accommodation in Eben Am Achensee
Eben Am Achensee offers cultural attractions, trails by the lake and through the mountain landscape, as well as opportunities for exercise and relaxation. When choosing accommodation, it can be helpful to compare the focus of your stay: the Straße der Lieder is a roughly two-kilometre-long promenade trail with folk song stops; other trails pass through pine forests or offer views into the Inn Valley. Chapels, museums and Atoll Achensee round out these varied options.

Chapels, Pilgrimage and the Museum World
The Notburga Chapel replaced an older Notburga shrine in 2003. Another chapel story is associated with the Häuserer Bichl Chapel: it was consecrated in May 1949, and a revered image of the Virgin Mary serves as its altarpiece. The Notburga Museum is dedicated to Tyrol’s only saint. The reliquary of Saint Notburga is located on the high altar in the pilgrimage church in Eben. The church is a destination for numerous pilgrims.
The Achenseer Museum and Experience World presents local customs, the way of life of the Achental population, and the origins of associations and institutions across eight buildings. The collection includes historic tractors and the stern of the 120-year-old Achensee steamer, with its working engine. The exhibits thus focus on both everyday and association history, as well as a piece of maritime history.
Today, the Fischergut is one of the oldest farmhouses in Pertisau. During the summer months, concerts by the Eben Federal Brass Band are held there. The Karwendel March and the Achensee Run also take place at the Fischergut. If you would like to combine your visit with an event, check the relevant dates.
Trails by the Lake and Through the Landscape
The Straße der Lieder runs along the Achensee promenade between the Buchau and Seespitz boat landing stages. The trail is about two kilometres long and wheelchair accessible. Each of its twelve stops features a well-known folk song. Its length, endpoints and song stops give this trail a different focus from routes where the forest, elevation or views take centre stage.
The Achensee Cycle Path can also be understood by following its route: it runs along a flat section by the lake to Maurach, then to the Eben district and from there downhill to Wiesing. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between the flat section by the lake and the rest of the route via Eben.
The Dalfaz Waterfall has a drop of around 60 metres. One route follows the waterfall and ends on the hiking trail to the Dalfaz Alm. The Adlerhorst offers a different highlight: the 360° viewing platform lies at an altitude of over 2,000 metres and is modelled on an eagle’s nest. Those interested in viewpoints will find two very different landmarks here: the waterfall with its drop and a high-altitude platform with panoramic views.
Hiking and Climbing in the Rofan
The Rofan area offers numerous hiking routes as well as via ferratas and climbing gardens for beginners and advanced climbers. The climbing options therefore cover different experience levels; this does not mean, however, that every route is suitable for every ability. Check current route conditions before climbing.
Another example of a route with its own distinctive landscape is the trail to the Astenau Alpe. It starts at a car park above the Haus St. Notburga residential and care centre in Eben. The trail winds through open pine forest and ends at the Astenau Alpe, which offers views into the Inn Valley. Unlike the promenade route, this trail focuses on its winding path, forest and the view from the destination; no walking time or difficulty rating is specified.
Exercise and Relaxation at Atoll Achensee
Atoll Achensee includes a panoramic pool, a penthouse spa, a rooftop infinity pool, a sauna area with mountain views, a sports pool, an adventure slide, and fun and outdoor pools. It also features a Lakeside GYM with lake views and a 180 m² bouldering hall. The facilities range from swimming and sauna areas to fitness and bouldering. Individual areas may have their own schedules; check the opening times for each facility before your visit.
